Shake It Off

“You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing that we call “failure” is not the falling down, but the staying down.” – Mary Pickford

Monday lived up to its reputation, rather, I let it. Weighing myself down thinking about a very busy week ahead and letting predictable little things get to me. Today was different because I changed my thoughts, my expectations.

What we take on and release determines the tone of each day. Joy or angst is found in the same detail viewed from different angles. Some moments, some days, we need to simply shake it off and start a new. Carry what matters and discard the rest.

“We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.” - Buddha

  2. I have found that for most of my life, I worry too much about what will happen later in my life and not focusing on the now. I have started mediation and realize that it come down to simply being and living in the moment and not thinking what will happen 5 years from now.

And your dog is sooo adorable! It makes me miss my own Golden!

    • Thanks for sharing. Living in now and not in the before or after is what makes a good life. Lily and Molly show me how to shake it off and enjoy the simple pleasures of a run or merely hanging out.

  4. Your picture reminds me of what image I use myself…Drop it (as in dropping the yucky, wet tennis ball from the pup’s mouth)…works every time!

  5. Love the photo and the lesson. Who better than a Golden Retriever to teach humans to face each day with joy?

  9. It is so funny how we let the things of the future or the past weigh us down in our thoughts. Then we say “Our lives are so stressful!” When actually we are the ones creating the stress by our own thoughts.
