Fluidity and Flow

“We have so little faith in the ebb and flow of life, of love, of relationships. We leap at the flow of the tide and resist in terror its ebb. We are afraid it will never return. We insist on permanency, on duration, on continuity; when the only continuity possible, in life as in love, is in growth, in fluidity – in freedom”― Anne Morrow Lindbergh, Gift from the Sea

“The physical reinvention of the world is endless, relentless, fascinating, exhaustive; nothing that seems solid is. If you could stand at just a little distance in time, how fluid and shape-shifting physical reality would be, everything hurrying into some other form, even concrete, even stone.”― Mark Doty

The world opens or closes to the aperture of your heart.
Soften, let light in.
Receptivity and allowing.
Water through, around and over rocks.
Weaving, wandering, with ease.
Mystery, unknowing, curiosity.
Paths to discovery, wonder, transformation.
Ebb and flow.
Reinvention and regeneration.
Fluidity and flow.

“It is best to live in a state of perplexity and fluidity, like water, than to live in a hardened and doctrinal state of believing one knows everything.”― Laurence Galian, The Sun at Midnight

Unfamiliar Gladness

“This is the power of art: The power to transcend our own self-interest, our solipsistic zoom-lens on life, and relate to the world and each other with more integrity, more curiosity, more wholeheartedness.”― Maria Popova

“At watershed moments of upheaval and transformation, we anticipate with terror the absence of the familiar parts of life and of ourselves that are being washed away by the current of change. But we fail to envision the unfamiliar gladness and gratifications the new tide would bring, the unfathomed presences, for our imaginations are bounded by our experience. The unknown awakens in us a reptilian dread that plays out with the same ferocity on scales personal, societal, and civilizational, whether triggered by a new life-chapter or a new political regime or a new world order.”― Maria Popova, Figuring

New tides to dive into
Fresh territory to explore
Paths off trail to cut
Fresh blooms to burst
Curiosity and discovery
Releasing the old to make space for the unfamiliar
Allowing wonder, awe and beauty to transform
May gladness and gratifications expand your view and deepen your trust in the journey.

“We spend our lives trying to discern where we end and the rest of the world begins. We snatch our freeze-frame of life from the simultaneity of existence holding on to the illusions of permanence, congruence, and linearity; of static selves and lives that unfold in sensical narratives. All the while, we mistake chance for choice, our labels and models of things for the things themselves, our records for history. History is not what happened, but what survives the shipwrecks of judgment and chance.”― Maria Popova, Figuring

Make Your Day

“With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

“We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” - Walt Disney

Take your day back. Slow down. Play. Explore. Discover. Have fun. All right in the middle of daily pressures and deadlines, many self-imposed. Put your heart and time into what’s truly important. We too easily surrender control of our day. Transform the noise of busyness into music of meaning. Molly and Lily remind me everyday to lighten up, party a little, laugh alot and keep buying toys they can shred. Now go make your day, your tomorrow, your life.

Contemplate

“If we know the divine art of concentration, if we know the divine art of meditation, if we know the divine art of contemplation, easily and consciously we can unite the inner world and the outer world.” – Sri Chinmoy

Take five minutes today to be quiet, be open – focus on BEing instead of DOing. There’s more to life than checking tasks off our to do list.

“Life is this simple: we are living in a world that is absolutely transparent and the divine is shining through it all the time. This is not just a nice story or a fable, it is true." ― Thomas Merton

Explore

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”  – Mark Twain

While doing my morning routine, I glanced out the window to discover Lily was scaling the limb of the tree that fell last week. “Explore” immediately came to mind. Explore your world everyday.
