“Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.” – Dr. Seuss
Play, fun and frolic until you’re worn out. A toy, a new hobby, a different path. We take so much so seriously. So much is serious. Remember to find the joy in simple every day moments that are in full view to the keen eye.

“Welcome every morning with a smile. Look on the new day as another special gift from your Creator, another golden opportunity to complete what you were unable to finish yesterday. Be a self-starter. Let your first hour set the theme of success and positive action that is certain to echo through your entire day. Today will never happen again. Don’t waste it with a false start or no start at all. You were not born to fail.” – Og Mandino

“I long, as does every human being, to be at home wherever I find myself.” – Maya Angelou
I come home to these smiling faces everyday, with the same level of excitement of going to a family reunion. Home is so much more than a building. It’s that undeniable feeling of comfort and acceptance that you have when you see family and friends (I include dogs in the family/friend category). I come home when I visit my parents, with family just hanging out. I come home when I see or talk with friends I haven’t seen in years, picking up the conversation and connection like it was 10 minutes ago. What a gift we can be if we become “home” for others.

For Lily, life is a full contact sport. Every morning she wakes up with a new enthusiasm for the day, tail wagging, wrestling with Molly and a big smile. When we visit my parents, she gets so excited like she hasn’t seen them in years. She is always looking for the next thing so we ask a lot “Where’s Lily?” If she’s gone for more than a minute, she’ll be into something. She has an insatiable curiosity.
I came out of the kitchen at my parents this morning to Lily standing on the table and then moving to the chair – just for a new view on the world.
A few weeks ago, my Mom was in the back yard and found the salt shaker. Every few weeks, I find a sock or two in the back yard. When I come home from work, one of my slippers is always in the living room where Lily and Molly lay by the window keeping an eye on the neighborhood.
These funny moments keeps life interesting and remind me to be as curious as Lily. To look for the next thing that can fill each day with moments of simple joy.

With the buzz of Super Bowl weekend upon us, I thought I’d give a sneak preview of what I call the “Colors in Winter” Super Bowl, now showing at the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory at Como Park, St. Paul, Minnesota.
I thank my parents for my work ethic. Give your best, care about what you do, make a difference. I am learning the importance of working on my play ethic. Lily and Molly teach me that everyday. Thanks girls!
