Well written, and I can identify with this. I was on the playground where I taught young children when I got the news we couldn’t show our emotions. We didn’t want to scare the children, and some parents came to get them. Others stayed all day locked with us in a safe place. And still, we couldn’t reveal our emotion, even as we discovered more details as the day went on. I also had my brother and his family living in Manhattan and my daughter and her husband living in Washington DC. I wasn’t able to reach any of them until the next day. Do you I could not process what it happened. I had no frame of reference for it. I’d never experienced anything like it in the emotions were overwhelming. I will never forget that day as long as I live. A few years later in my career, I taught a young child, whose mother was pregnant with him when his father was killed and one of the planes. He never met his father.
Thank you so much for sharing and carrying that burden for others while going through it yourself.
